Break and Enter - Mischief
MarathonThe Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police could use your help in identifying those responsible for a break and enter in which a vacant apartment was vandalized.
This apartment is part of a commercial property located on Stewart Street in Marathon. It appears the mischief occurred sometime over the winter months and was only recently discovered and reported to police.
Damage to the four room apartment is estimated at approximately $3,500.00 and consists of drywall being kicked in, drywall being pulled from the ceiling and walls, water damage, an interior window being smashed, and the rear entry door being destroyed.
Police continue to examine physical evidence but do believe that at least two persons are responsible for this senseless and costly damage.

Mischief - School Bus Damaged
Provincial police at Marathon Detachment could use your help in identifying the persons responsible for a senseless act of mischief in which a brand new school bus was damaged.This incident was reported to police on the 2nd of January and it likely occurred sometime over the holidays. The targeted bus was a the end of a long line of parked buses on the Trottier Bus Lines property on McKenzie Street in Marathon. A total of 18 seat covers were ripped and several others were destroyed. In addition the contents of a first aid kit were strewn about the the rear of the bus was full of spit. Damage is estimated at over $1,900.00.
This is an active investigation and police feel that at least two persons were responsible.

Theft in Marathon

This small weigh scale was stolen from a utility room at Marathon Pulp Inc. sometime between Friday the 25th of May and Sunday the 27th. The scale could easily be concealed as it only measures approximately 10 x 6 x 3 inches.

Arson
MarathonProvincial Police at Marathon Detachment continue to investigate a fire in which a storage shed and its contents were completely destroyed.
This incident occurred on Thursday the 12th of April at about 3:15 in the morning at a residence on Hemlo Drive. The occupants were awakened by what they thought was an explosion coming from the back yard. By this time the storage shed was completely engulfed in flames.
Responding fire crews were unable to save the structure which contained two snow machines, two sea kayaks, two bicycles, and an ATV. Damage is estimated at approximately $10,000.00.
Physical evidence continues to be examined but Police and Fire Investigators suspect that this was a deliberate act of arson and they could use your help in identifying the persons responsible.
