SchreiberThe Schreiber Detachment of the Provincial Police continue to investigate the theft of a large quantity of diesel fuel from the TWD yard in Rossport. This is a highway maintenance yard located on the north side of the Trans Canada Highway and just east of the village of Rossport.
This theft occurred sometime during the early evening hours of Wednesday, the 25th of April. It was at a time when maintenance crews were out from the yard dealing with a rock slide on the highway east of Pays Platt.
Approximately 300 – 400 gallons of diesel fuel at a cost of approximately $1,400.00 was siphoned from a storage tank located behind the main building. The fuel filler cap was open and a fuel line had been cut in two separate places. A short piece of siphon hose was recovered at the scene.
Tire impressions in the soil would indicate that a large commercial vehicle of some type was used in the theft.
