Explorer Maps

One of the most unique fundraising ideas Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers has come up with is a set of Explorer Maps. This set of 10 maps contains some of the most up-to-date information on road locations, snowmobile trails, canoe routes, private property, wildlife sanctuaries, parks, lakes and fish species in those lakes, plus many other details. Without the help of the Ministry of Natural Resources and various forest product companies, that supplied topographical information, this project would never have been realized.

The response to these maps by the public has been so great that the series is being expanded. The initial printing covered an area from English River east to the Nipigon River and North to Wabikimi Provincial Park. Crime Stoppers has now been requested to expand the coverage of these maps to include east of Nipigon to the White River area and north to the Ogoki watershed. Northwestern Ontario Crime Stoppers is also working on extending the Explorer Maps series all the way from English River west to the Manitoba border. Other programs in Northeastern Ontario have also expressed interest in getting involved in this project.

Where To Get Your Map?

The Explorer maps, which retail for $11.34 each (taxes included), can be purchased at the Crime Stoppers office at 1200 Balmoral Street (second floor of the Thunder Bay Police station) . There are also a number of businesses that are selling the maps.
