Kip Hallow – Historic Investigation
marks the 26th anniversary of the death of a Thunder Bay man, Kip James Hallow. Kip was 20 years old at the time of his death in 1985.
Kip Hallow’s body was discovered on Vickers Street North at Weigand Avenue just before 2:00 a.m. on October 26, 1985 by a 21 year old man and a 20 year old female. They were assisted by an Amber Cab driver who came upon the scene within minutes. It was reported that the man and woman had seen a car driving northbound on Vickers Street North at the time of the incident. Police and Ambulance had been called to the scene by the cab driver. Attempts to revive Kip were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at McKellar Hospital just after 2:00 a.m.
Investigators believed that Kip Hallow death resulted from injuries sustained in what appeared to have been an auto pedestrian collision. Metallic Red or Maroon paint chips were discovered on Kip’s clothing. A dark coloured sedan was seen by witnesses driving at a higher rate of speed after the incident.
Today the Criminal Investigations Branch is appealing to anyone who may have information regarding Kip Hallow’s death or his activities leading up to this tragic event.
