Thunder Bay Cold Cases

Homicide

Homicide investigators with the Thunder Bay Police are requesting your assistance to help identify the person or persons responsible for a truly senseless murder.

This is the type of crime that goes to the heart of Crime Stoppers and why it was established back in 1976 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Crime Stoppers has taken the extraordinary step of having a $2000.00 reward pre-approved by our local committee. In other words, if you provide anonymous information that leads to an arrest in this homicide, Crime Stoppers will give you $2000.00.

A much loved and well known Alma Teravainen was murdered on July 25th while at work at the Harbourview Terrace Variety.

This is a small community store within the Harbourview Terrace Apartments. This is a relatively high traffic area with the building itself surrounded by Bay Street to the south, Wilson Street to the north, Lake Street to the west and Water and Cumberland Streets to the east. The Thunder Bay Charity Casino is just two blocks to the north. Immediately out front on Cumberland Street is a city bus stop and two mail boxes.

We want to bring you back to this area at about 6:45 p.m. on the 25th of July. Every little bit of information helps! Surely someone saw something and we need you to act! You may have information that you may not realize is important to the police. If you have not already spoken to the police, then please call the Homicide hotline at 684-1330.

But, if you wish to remain anonymous and be eligible for the $2000.00 reward, then call Crime Stoppers at 623-8477 or 1-800-222-8477.
