Assault Outside Aiden Bar

Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers are asking the public to assist the police with solving an assault that occurred outside a south side bar.

On Friday, October 19th, 2012 a male went outside of Aden Bar at approximately 11:00 p.m. to have a cigarette near the laneway on the south side of the building.  He observed a male harassing a female in the smoking area and made a comment for the male to leave her alone.  The male victim was struck from behind and kicked several times in the face.  He was later taken to hospital to find out that his nose and jaw were broken in several places.

Anyone with information about who may be responsible for this assault causing bodily harm is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 623-TIPS (8477). 

November is crime prevention month. Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers and Woit’s Pharmacy are partnering to hold a Take Back Your Drugs event on Saturday, November 17th at the Farmers Market between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Anyone with old and unwanted drugs, especially narcotics is welcomed to drop them off at our booth.  It is our hope to take in as many narcotics as possible to avoid them from getting onto the streets.  Lets work together to make Thunder Bay safe!

Theft of Utility Trailor

Crime Stoppers and the Thunder Bay Police are looking for your help in identifying the persons responsible for the theft of a utility trailer.

Sometime between noon on July 7th and 9 a.m. on July 11, a new utility trailer was stolen from the back yard of a residence in the 100 block of Rowand Street.  The trailer was being used for year clean up and was full of garbage. 

It is described a s a 4x6 galvanized silver utility trailer with a back gate. Licence plate J2604Z was on the trailer and the VIN # is 2SSUB11A3CG050766.  The theft is valued at $900.00.

Theft of Boat -Nipigon Area

Crime Stoppers and the Nipigon OPP are asking for your help in solving the theft of a boat and trailer that occurred at the Parmacheene boat launch off the Cameron Falls Road in Township of Nipigon.

The owner left the boat on the shore between 9:30 p.m. on June 14th and 9:30 a.m. on June 15th.  The trailer was parked at the launch secured with a hitch lock and pad lock.  The suspects removed the boat from the water and placed it on the trailer and stole both the trailer and boat.

The boat is a 2005 Tracker Pro Guide V16 with identification number ON3600672.  A 50-horse Mercury motor bearing serial number 1B111625 was affixed to the rear of the boat.  The trailer described as a Tracker Trail Star with Ontario license plate J2575X.  The boat and trailer are valued at approximately $9000.00.

Theft of Utility Trailer - Municipality of Shuniah

Crime Stoppers and the Thunder Bay OPP are asking for your help in solving the theft of a Newman’s utility trailer from a property the Municipality of Shuniah.  
 
This crime occurred sometime between May 4th and May 8th 2012.  The trailer was parked on Lakeshore Dr. where the owner was clearing a property.  The suspects used Alder Rd and the old CN rail bed south of Lakeshore Dr. to remove the trailer from the property. 
 
The trailer is described as a Newman’s 5ft X 8 ft aluminum utility trailer.  The trailer was equipped with a spare tire and jack on the tongue, a hoist handle and mud flaps.  The VIN number is 5A81UT60692046663.  The Ontario license plate that was also stolen is N35209.  The trailer is valued at $1700.00.

Theft of Tools in Municipality of Shuniah

Crime Stoppers and the Thunder Bay OPP are asking for your help in solving a Theft over $5000.00 that occurred on Gibson’s Road in the Municipality of Shuniah.
 
Sometime between May 27th and June 7th 2012 approximately $6,500.00 dollars worth of tools were stolen from an out building at a private residence.  The suspects did not use force to enter the building leaving the victim to believe he was home during the theft.  The items stolen include a red 2010 Honda 3000 generator, serial #EZGF1245876, a 2008 orange Husquvarna 365 power saw, serial #100430, a 2008 orange Husquvarna power saw, serial #3700373 and a red Honda fire pump and hose.

East Empite Street Arsons

arson imagesCrime Stoppers is looking for the community to assist with identifying who may be responsible for Arson’s occurring in the laneway between East Empire Ave and Piper Ave.

Between May 14th and June 4th, 2012 there have been a number of fires set in this laneway usually occurring after 3:00 a.m. and before 6 a.m.  Several sheds and garages have received damage to the exterior of the structures as a result of these fires. 
 
In one incident, fire that was set to a car parked in the back laneway resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle and a nearby structure.
 
In all of these incidents, it would appear that aerosol cans have been used as an accelerant to start the fires along with other flammable materials.

Theft of Paintings

paintingThunder Bay District Crime Stoppers would like your assistance in locating stolen paintings from a downtown north core business.

Chenier Fine Arts is a local business located on Courts Street just south of Red River Road.  The owner of the store has reported that two paintings have been taken from the wall of the business in the past few months.

The first painting is a Robert ROY with a value of $750.00. It is described as 12 x 12 stretched canvases and is a painting of four youths playing street hockey with a city background. On the back of the painting are the words "Les Richners De Lavile" which is French for the Riches of Life. It also has the Robert ROY signature on the back of it.

roy paintingThe second painting is a George D. Turia piece called “Core”.  It is described as a 12x12 abstract mixed media on a stretched canvas.

Theft of Bike

Crime Stoppers need the assistance of the public to identify the individuals responsible for a break, enter and theft.

A shed was entered in the yard of a Darwin Street residence sometime between 8:30 pm on March 24th and 1:30 pm on March 25th.  A brand new gray and silver Specialized model CT Coupe valued at $1,193.00 was stolen.

The bike is equipped with a water bottle cage, a black rear rack, a bicycle computer and a helmet.  This bike may be identified with serial number WSBC608218141G.

Theft of Trailer

Crime Stoppers need the assistance of the public to help in solving a case of stolen property. 
 
Between February 15th, 2012 and May 2nd, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) attended on the property of Nakina Forest Products Sawmill located off Highway 643 in Greenstone Ontario.  A 2006 RNBW C&E double wheel trailer bearing Ontario licence D1059V was stolen. The trailer contained a red fuel tank worth $5000.00 full of colored fuel with a pump worth $800.00 attached to it. The total worth stolen property is $9000.00.

Robbery at Mac's on James Street


Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers are appealing to the public to assist with identifying the male responsible for a Robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 1500 James Street South.

Thunder Bay Police received a call at 2:29 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 for the employee at the store to report a robbery that had just occurred.  A male entered the store with his ski jacket hood up and his face covered and demanded money, cigarettes and lottery tickets.  The accused did not have a weapon at the time and the employee was not injured of the incident.  The accused was able to make off with the various items he demanded and was last seen crossing James Street and heading westbound on Gore Street.

Police are looking for a male described as 6’0” tall with a medium build wearing a red, black and white very distinctive ski jacket.  Crime Stoppers is hoping that the release of these images will assist the police in apprehending the person responsible for this crime.

Petro Can Gas Bar Robbery

Thunder Bay Police responded to a robbery that occurred at the Petro Can Gas Bar on Dawson Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. on February 8, 2012.

The lone male entered the store with his hood pulled up to hide his face and walked up to the counter.  He proceeded to pulled out a syringe out of his pocket and demand money from the employee.   The male then left the store with an undisclosed amount of money heading southbound on Regina Ave.  The store clerk was not injured.

Perto Can Robbery #2The accused is described as a Caucasian male in his early 20’s.  He is 5’8” tall with a medium build.  He was wearing a two tone grey winter jacket with a hood, blue jeans, and white runners.

Thunder Bay Police are releasing images of the individual responsible for the Robbery on January 21, 2012 at the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 640 South Waterloo Street.

The suspect is described as a native Canadian male being 6’0” tall with a slim build with a dark complexion and short dark hair.  He was wearing a black toque, a black jacket and a grey shirt and pants.

Deer Killed on Mission Island

deerThrough Crime Stoppers the Ministry of Natural Resources is looking for your help in identifying those responsible for an absolutely dispicable and senseless act.
 
On or about Tuesday the 13th of December, 2011, two large male white tailed deer were killed with archery equipment on Mission Island in Thunder Bay.  One of the deer, found in the side yard of a private residence on 103rd street had been decapitated. The second deer, found in a side yard of a residence on 105th street had its antlers forcibly removed.  When they were discovered, both carcasses had spoiled.
 
MNR believes that the decapitated deer had a very unusual and unique set of antlers.  These are completely, senseless trophy killings with a total disregard for public safety, private property and hunting ethics.

Mac's Convenience Store Robbery - Victoria Ave

At approximately 12:38 a.m. on November 27th, 2011, a female entered the Mac’s Convenience Store situated on East Victoria Ave brandishing a knife and demanding money.

An undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were taken.  The female fled on foot.  K-9 was called out but unsuccessful.

The female described as Caucasian, late teems, red hoodie, grey toque and a blue bandana covering the lower part of her face.

Mac's Convenience Store Robbery - Victoria Ave

Just before 12:30 a.m., Thunder Bay Police responded to a robbery at the Mac's Convenience Store located at 1802 East Victoria Avenue.

A lone male entered the store armed with a pipe, threatened staff and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.  The staff was not hurt and the investigation continues.

Police describe the male as follows:  5’11” wearing a black sweater, blue jeans, a black mask and hat.

James Street Mac's Convenience Store Robbery

Police responded to an early morning robbery at the Mac's Convenience Store located on the city's south side.
 
Just after 3:00 a.m. police attended the Mac's at 1500 South James Street to take a report of a robbery.  A male armed with a knife and his head covered by a hood entered the store and demanded money and cigarettes. The employee complied and was not injured during this incident.  The suspect was last seen heading eastbound on Frederica St.

Police are looking for a 30 to 35 year old Caucasian male described as clean shaven, approximately 6 feet tall, slim and wearing a grey hoodie with a Nike swoosh over the left chest.

Early this morning, Thunder Bay Police responded to a robbery at the Mac's Convenience located on the corner of May St and Dease St.
 
Just before 6:00 a.m. a male armed with scissors entered the Mac's  with his face concealed with a black neck warmer.  He pulled up his hood and leaned over the counter demanding money and cigarettes. The suspect made off with a small amount of cash and cigarettes.  The employee was not injured.

Mac's Convenience Store Robbery - October

Officers responded to a Robbery at a Mac's Convenience Store located on the corner of Syndicate Ave and Arthur Street on October 6, 2011.

Just after 2:00 a.m. three males entered the store wearing balaclavas armed with a knife.  They demanded money and cigarettes.  The employees complied and the suspects left leaving the employees unharmed.  Police are looking for 3 males.

  • Suspect #1 is wearing a grey hoodie with a logo over the heart and distinctive black armbands outlined with white on each sleeve.
  • Suspect #2 & #3 are wearing black hoodies and dark pants.
